
Derrick Petit
President
Derrick is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. He earned Dual Bachelor of Arts degrees and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Louisiana State University as well as a Juris Doctor from Howard University School of Law. Derrick is currently a Senior Associate attorney in the Investigations, White Collar, and Fraud practice at Hogan Lovells US LLP, and was one of The National LGBT Bar Association’s Best 40 LGBTQ+ Lawyers Under 40 in 2019. He is a former, certified middle school teacher, with a passion for education and mentorship, and a former federal law clerk to the Honorable Emmet G. Sullivan in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. In addition to his work with GPMC, Derrick also serves on the Board of Directors for the Washington Bar Association and as President of his homeowners’ association.
